Kyla & Isaac’s Wedding at the Toronto Reference Library

Kyla and Isaac were referred to me from another one of my amazing couples from the past summer, Anneke & Isuru. They tied the knot on Feb 16th at the Toronto Reference Library, braving the crazy cold Canadian winter!!! Luckily it wasn’t THAT cold (compared to the rest of this awful winter we’ve had), and all of the festivities were indoors where it was toasty warm. :) What a unique location to host a wedding! I had no idea that the reference library hosted weddings! They basically had access to the entire building after the library closed for the public, utilizing both the main floor atrium and the upstairs ballroom space.

It was a traditional Jewish wedding, with the Kabbalat Panim (separate receptions for the bride and groom to host their guests) taking place before the Chuppah ceremony. During this ceremony, the bride is asked whether she wants to follow through with the wedding, and raises a flag to indicate a yes! Following this is the Bedeken, a major highlight of the day, when the bride and groom see each other for the first time after spending a week apart! After this, the guests were escorted downstairs for the traditional Chuppah ceremony. It was a beautiful candlelit ceremony in the library atrium, where blessings were given, the bride was presented with her wedding ring, the groom breaks a glass, they share their first kiss as husband and wife, and everyone shouts Mazel Tov! :) The rest of the evening was full of delicious food, heartwarming speeches, and boisterous dancing!

I would describe this wedding as the “funnest” wedding ever!! Is funnest even a word?!? Because if it isn’t, it should be. :P All of the guests took turns entertaining the bride and groom with dances, drumming, and props! The dance floor was PACKED all evening, with Joe Star and his band rocking it all night long! What an amazing party! :)

Thank you again Kyla & Isaac for having us share your special day with you! It was such a pleasure getting to know you both, and hopefully we’ll see you around sometime soon! :) Trivia night?!? :P

Hi

I was the makeup & hair artist for Kyla’s wedding and I saw your blog post. I love the pics I was just curious if I could possibly get a few for my blog and website? Feel free to watermark them and I’ll give you credit anywhere I use them. If it is ok I’d like pics specifically of Kyla and her mom that feature her (their) hair and makeup …also the back of Kyla’s hair are nice too.

Thanks,
Jessica
