Hi everyone, I’m Courtney! Mama to a beautiful and spirited 2 year old, fur mom to a rambunctious black lab/shepherd mix, and just celebrated my 5 year anniversary with my hubby! 🙂
I’ve been into photography my whole life. I’ve always loved to tell stories through photos/video, and my friends would always ask to borrow my negatives, or eventually, have a cd of my pictures made….I documented family trips (with narrative), and burned through rolls and rolls of film. 🙂
I used to pose my friends for photo shoots in high school, and was always the model/photographer in my own show (ya ok I’ll admit that this hasn’t changed :P). I used to get annoyed though, because the pictures of me never turned out as well. My face was too dark, the background was bad, or they would cut off my shoes!
Since the digital age, I have gone though at least 5 cameras. Not because I am overly rough with them (accidents DO happen, but considering I take it absolutely everywhere, one camera a year seems reasonable, compared with someone who might use it once or twice)….and technology does change so fast and I need to keep up with it……and finally I decided that it was time to invest in the digital SLR. Yes, it is bulky and somewhat ugly to wear, but it has become part of my outfit. I am a Nikon shooter, so that black and yellow strap is a staple of my being.
I once read a posting on a photography blog asking the question: “Should I bring my SLR to Europe with me, or will it be too annoying to carry?” My immediate response was “If you have to ask, then the answer is no!” I would never ever question it for a second. If I were in Europe, I’d rather go without water then to not bring my SLR. In fact, during a one-week trip to London I brought about 5 lenses, two camera bodies, a flash, a tripod, a reflector and a light stand. And took over 5,000 photos.
Things that I like:
Gardening and house decor
Fru-fru princess dresses and lace (especially on my daughter!)
Photography (obv :P)
Weddings (and talking about them)
Traveling and exploring
I am certainly a strange mix between girly and tom boy. For example, I will trudge through a sewer in pink boots and a tutu 😛 I am adventurous and fun, laid back and silly, and live life to the fullest. I’m looking forward to meeting you, and look forward to all of the memories we will make together!
