I had met Danielle and Dan on my very first destination wedding in Roatan, Honduras, where photographed Caroline and Matt’s wedding. Danielle and Dan were the only wedding guests staying at the same resort as me (next door to the others, so not too far), and were guests in the wedding. We ran into each other again at Michelle and John’s wedding last January, so they have seen me in action twice!
I was super excited when they contacted me about their wedding, not only because I love referrals (it’s totally awesome to see past brides and familiar faces at weddings), but also because I absolutely LOVE their style. They are getting married at Steam whistle Brewery downtown Toronto next fall, and this was one of the venues on my short list for my own wedding. It’s got the large windows, factory-esque feel inside with the large beams and brick walls, not to mention the old train yard outside! Totally unique and exciting!!
So when they requested a “vintagey” feeling engagement session, I was already swooning. We had planned a nice romantic sunset shoot in and around UofT, but the weather has been a major thorn in my side this fall. Essentially every single week-end has been cold, wet, rainy and cloudy, and the forecast for this session was no different. Although the rain held out until we were finished, we still had a gloomy overcast sky with no light and certainly no sunset. Boo. Oh well, we made the best of the dull grey evening….. and I think that we made some magic regardless! Ellie & Dan, we are soooo totally looking forward to your day, and can’t wait to see you bring your ideas and theme to life! 🙂 xoxo Court & Gray
